Queensday 2012
On April 30, the Dutch celebrate Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day), a national holiday to commemorate the birthday of the country’s (former) queen. This year Queen Beatrix and her family visited Veenendaal. For the people from this town it was an unforgettable day. Everywhere along the route there were colorfully knitted items displayed and people who were knitting and spinning. Of course the royal family participated; Princess Maxima even sat behind a Louët S10 spinning wheel and spun a beautiful orange thread. The Queen asked several questions about spinning while looking at the ladies behind the spinning wheels.
We loved to see the enthusiasm of the royal family and look back with pleasure on this fine day.
