The electric carding machine is designed for production use. The XL electric carding machine features 30 cm wide rollers and carding cloth with either 46 or 72 tpi (teeth per inch). If you mainly card coarse or dirty wool, the 46 tpi version is the better choice. For finer fibers, the 72 tpi version is most suitable. The carding cloth is made of nickel-plated steel wire mounted on a mat of cotton and natural rubber, giving it a long service life.

The built-in motor (230 V, 370 W) drives the machine, allowing both hands to be free for feeding the material. The speed is reduced via two V-belts and belt sliders to approximately 90 revolutions per minute. The tension of the V-belts can be adjusted using a tensioner. This constant speed has a positive effect on the quality of the batt. Naturally, this is the ideal carding machine when large quantities need to be carded.

The electric drum carder is designed for effortless two-hand feeding. It comes complete with a transparent plastic safety cover, a doffer brush, a doffer pin, and a carding booklet. The machine rests on four rubber feet and, due to its weight, does not need to be clamped down. If the carder overheats, it features an automatic shutdown system. There is also an automatic safety switch: if the plastic protective shield is rolled forward to expose the drum, the motor will not restart until the cover is returned to its protective position.

In carders, the acceleration between the rollers is usually specified. For this carder, it is 4:1. However, a more important factor for carding effectiveness is the difference in surface speed between the large and small drums. To calculate this, multiply the acceleration by the ratio of the drum diameters. For the Electric Drum Carder, this results in a speed ratio of 9:1.
